This earring is a mix of batik bone and brass wire. Batik is originally a process to dye pattern to cloth, the process was adopted within Africa to apply stunning, contrasting designs to bone – often symbolic of regal, or higher social status. The Jabali earring is stunning, to say the least. Be sure to check out the Jabali cuff to complete the look.
These earrings were done by our very own partner artisan Eric, better known as 'Kim' in Nairobi, Kenya. Working with his brothers, they create unique jewelry pieces using brass, bone, and horn.
Jabali [Jah-bah-lee] – is Swahili for rock also used to mean strong as a rock.
